The Borders, land of Robert the Bruce, the ruins of his castle still stand at Lochmaben. Bruce murdered his rival John Comyn in Greyfriars Kirk Dumfries and immediately proclaimed himself King of Scots in Dumfries town.

 
The land of the Border Reivers who rustled cattle accross the border between England and Scotland .
The land of Scotlands national poet, Robert Burns who was born in Ayrshire and lived in Dumfries for the last years of his short life and where he wrote much of his works.  
 

The land of the Covenanters whose refusal to accept the Anglican system of Bishops in the kirk led to the killing times of the 17th and 18th centuries, many died for their Presbyterian faith.

A land of castles , stately homes and world class championship golf courses such as Turnberry and Troon.  
  A land of wild moorlands,hills and mountains, where goats and deer roam free and Osprey,Golden Eagle and Red Kite soar.
A land of lochs, rivers and burns whose waters offer some of the worlds best salmon and trout fishing and the essential ingredient in the distilation of smooth lowland malt whisky.
